"I wanna dance!"

This week on the I ♥ faces blog the contest is all about dancing…..I, personally, have a little dancing queen! We signed Amelia up for dance class last fall, and she wound up hating it (it wasn’t a traditional ballet class like she was expecting, I guess). What she did love, though, was the tutu’s! For my entry this week, I wanted to share my pretty dancing girl, spinning like a top right here in my living room. Happy 5th Birthday Amelia Mae, I hope you’re always this free inside.

Bathtub Portrait Sneek Peek!

I had the time the other day while my oldest human was at school to get in a quick shoot with my favorite little man; my son Thomas! ♥ Here are some of my favorite moments from our bathtub shoot!

? Trains for Liam! ?

Today I was out and about taking pictures, as I am every day, and on my way home I came across this train car…it’s another car from the FJ&G Railroad. (You can see those pictures on day 13 of my Project 365) This one is located in Northville, right off of Rt. 30, so without further adu, I give you some more trains for Liam ♥

Trying my hand at portraits….

An old friend and I got together yesterday for a “horror” style photo shoot. It didn’t work out exactly like that (winter tends to get in the way of the really good dark, creepy looking alleys around here) but I’m really pleased with the way this shoot turned out, and wanted to share a few selected highlights here.

"It’s like the sky is on FIRE, Momma!"

That was what Amelia told me when I got home from work last Saturday night and she woke up for 3 minutes JUST to say goodnight to me. ♥ I love her in too many different ways to count, and all of them are unique to her. The sunset she was speaking of was the one we were blessed with last Saturday night. I was on my way to work and happened to have my camera with me. The colors in the pictures do not really do justice to the way the sky looked that night…it was so beautiful.

The beginnings of a BEAUTIFUL sunset.

I ? Faces Photography Challenge

This week the I ♥ Faces photography blog/community’s challenge theme is “Best Face” photo. My entry is one of my sweet boy this past week. We took a walk in the snow, and this face was also recently a part of my 365, but I loved it so much that I had to share it again here….

Now, the thing about my son is that he loves the idea of having his picture taken, but the minute I point the camera at him all I hear is “Nooooo….don’t cheese me!” (and it’s always in his deep, husky, tough-guy voice) Here is my sweet toes giving me his angry face.

Some bonus shots…

That did not make it into the 365 post today. I got 4 up, and called that plenty, but then my poor sick husband and recovering-from-the-virus kids went to bed, and little old me had nothing to do but edit pictures! I know, so exciting, huh? Anywhere, here are a few extra from today’s shoot. <3 Enjoy!

This is one of two pictures that I edited of my friends the cows after the fact. Love the contrasts between the blacks and whites with the snow.

Cow #2 is ready for her close-up!

Another shot of the lake near sunset.

Top 10 under 5 of 2009

Here is my first top 10 list of the year (and not the last, I’m hoping to have at least one more up by tomorrow!) *Note, these are not all my children. Images used with permission.

10. I got to shoot this sweet little guy a couple of weeks before Christmas, and boy did we have a great time! Little R. was full of energy, and not shy with me in the least! I really enjoyed capturinging his candid, adventurous spirit, and as you can see, it was hard for me to narrow down my choices!

9. My daughter’s 4 1/2 year pictures this past summer. Note the “cheesy” smile, as she calls it. 🙂

8. The star of this picture, obviously, is the sweet little bundle in the basket! A piece of my close friends’ christmas/baby’s first christmas shoot this year. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Heroths!

7. This little guy was just too cute! It was so hard to narrow down the pictures from our shoot together!

6.My own sweet little girl, climbing the ladder at the apple orchard all by herself!

5.Little R. again….this time checking out the melted m&m all over his fingers!

4. My good friend recently had a baby, (Mid November) and I was fortunate enough to get to capture him within his first few hours of life. <3 Sweet little Isaac. *You'll see more of him later on*

3. I babysit this little sweetheart during the week, and one day we happened to be playing in the leaves, and I got lucky with this shot. As you can see, she was having a great time.

2. Another of sweet little R.

1. And, finally…who can resist a sleeping newborn in a Santa hat?!

Tis The Season…

For barren, wintry photography! The thing that I love the most about taking pictures in the winter is how sparse everything is…the trees and mountains here are so beautiful, all covered with snow, the branches all exposed to the elements. To that end, here are a few recent shots I’ve gotten of the winter scenery around my home.
