{Top 10 of 2012 | Artsy-Fartsy Portrait Edition}

This is one of my very favorite categories for 2012’s top 10 lists. Right from the start, as I started to compile images for my various categories, I kept coming back to a few of these; sweet little toes with smiles drawn on, and sibling’s fingertips touching, and bare feet hanging from a dock in the sun; these are all precious moments in time; moments all too soon forgotten, so they’re important (to me) to capture. They are often though, not images chosen for prints, either big or small, and often wind up in my archives never to be seen again….until now. Here are a few of my favorite ‘artsy’ portraits from 2012; once again, David Letterman-style from 10-1.

And away we go!

{Top 10 of 2012 | Newborn Edition}

Blogging this year’s top ten list is a difficult task for me (once again), but in the best ways possible! For a photographer like me, it’s the ultimate compliment when clients come back. Some of these newborns belong to some of the mama’s you’ll see in the Maternity Top 10 List (which you’ll see in the next day or two) and SOME of them you’ll see throughout 2013, since their mommas have booked Watch Me Grow packages with me. (The super-premo-ultimate compliment; trusting me to document your baby’s entire first year!)
So, without any further ado, here are the Top 10 Newborns of 2012. (*from 10-1, since we have to do things Letterman style up in here.*)

{A Ton of Fans Giveaway Winners!}

So, recently I hit 2,000 fans on facebook (as you likely already know, if you follow my photography page there.) With that came the ton of fans giveaway. The contest was open for 2 weeks, and while it closed a few days ago, life has gotten away from me. There was soccer practice and play rehearsals to attend, games in the rain and enjoying the bits of sunshine we’ve been getting here in unpredictable Upstate New York. Now though, I have for you the results of my give away! ♥ Congrats to the winners, and thank you so much to all who entered. I feel so blessed that I’m able to do what I love every day, and truly, it’s all because of you folks. And I want to make sure you all know; it’s greatly appreciated. ♥ Continue reading

{2,000?! Now THAT is a TON of fans!}

So, it’s been a while since my last giveaway (which happened way back when I hit 1500 fans). With that thought in mind, I can only say that this one MUST be bigger and better. I mean, after all, a TON of fans is totally something to celebrate, right? Not to mention the fact that without each and every one of you folks who’ve checked out my work on facebook, I would never be anywhere near 2k fans. So hey, thank you so SUPER much! ♥ it’s appreciated, to be sure.

Ahem. Okay. So, with that thought in mind, let’s get on with the details, hrm?

{Brave and Brilliant | A guest blog}

I begin this guest post with an humble honoring of my old town school friend, Sara of Saratography. She is just as I remember her in school, brave and brilliant.

Brave in the way, that she went against our crowd in high school and shared some valuable information to my best friend (at the time) that there was some back talking about her and, ahem, that I was the one that was back talking. She stood up for her beliefs and pettiness was not in her game. I lost both their friendships for a bit and luckily, they forgave my trespasses and I gained some wisdom.

What I learned from this is a fellow human sister friend acting bravely and with integrity is what true friendship and living with heart means.

{Finding My Voice | Upstate New York Lifestyle Photography}

In my head, this subject is so cut and dry, but in reality it’s not as simple as it seems. As I write this post, I am praying for courage; courage to see this thing through to the end. Because, you see, I’ve found my voice. And now that I’ve found it, I need to use it to share what happened, because if this is happening to me, it’s happening to others too, and that is NOT okay with me.

The {Top 10 Images} of 2011 {Children}

Ok, so this is my very last top 10 list of the year, and by far the hardest one to narrow down! I knew I’d had a busy year in 2011, but I really didn’t take into account how many gorgeous children I’ve met and been lucky enough to photograph! It has been 24 days since I started narrowing this project down for these lists, and I honestly it would be done in like, the first week, but obviously that didn’t happen! So here I am, almost a full month into the new year, and finally finishing up my most daunting task since the 3.6.5.! So away we go, with my top 10 captures of Children in 2011! ♥

The {Top 10 Images} of 2011 {Couples}

So, as I was making my lists of ‘Top 10’ images, it occurred to me that wedding couples were getting all the glory here. I mean, sure, it makes sense that a photographer who shoots weddings would do a weddings top 10, but, I asked myself, what about all the couples that WEREN’T the bride and groom when I captured them? Are they any less special because I captured them on a regular day rather than their big day(s)? The answer was no. The couples I captured this year are JUST AS important as the weddings, or the children, or any other category you’ve seen here on my lists. So, with that thought in mind, I set out to make a top 10 list for all the couples I’ve captured….the moms and dads who are eclipsed by their children, and the newly engaged couples just starting out. With that in mind, here is my top 10 couples list for 2011!

The {Top 10 Images} of 2011 {Families}

Families are a ton of fun to capture. There’s nothing like being the lucky one to capture the (special) relationship between parents and their children. The bond is always unique and full of love, and SO fun to capture! I was very lucky this year; nearly every shoot I did was (supposed to be) centered around the little ones, but in nearly every case I was able to convince the parents that at least a FEW family captures were necessary! Anyway, without further adieu, here are a few of my very favorites from 2011 in the family category!

The {Top 10 Images} of 2011 {Newborns}

So, if you’ve seen my posts in the last couple of days, you’re already aware of what this is; a wrap up of 2011 in true David Letterman Style! 🙂 I am counting down my top 10 favorite images of 2011 in a variety of subjects, but today is for my teeny-tiniest clients! The Newborns!!

I’m not going to lie; newborns are some of my most difficult subjects; mostly because there is no predicting what they’ll do, and there is no scripting them, or bribing them; newborns have a total mind of their own! Even with that said, I’ve been (SUPER) blessed this year to have a ton of gorgeous, super sleepy, and VERY easy to work with clients. Here are a few of the highlights! ♥
